A Round Table was held at the Center for International Strategic Studies with Mr. Adrian Levy who is an investigative journalist and filmmaker specializing in foreign affairs and South East Asia. His recent books include The Exile: The Stunning Inside Story of Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda in Flight and The Siege: The Attack on the Taj.
During the Round Table, Mr. Adrian spoke on Pakistan’s image in the West, regional issues such as Afghanistan and the role of the US, Russia and China in South Asia. He noted that the US was repeating its policies of the early 1990’s when the Pressler Amendment was imposed on Pakistan and seeking to coerce Pakistan into bowing to US’ demands.
In the discussion session, various questions were raised and comments made regarding the steps Pakistan should take to reclaim the space for Pakistan’s narrative in the world. The discussion also covered ways to revamp Pakistan’s image and countervail India’s influence in the international system and Pakistan’s sacrifices and success in the War on Terror.
Executive Director Ambassador Ali Sarwar Naqvi concluded the Round Table by noting that Mr. Adrian Levy’s work was significant and appreciated his understanding of South Asia from an unbiased angle.
