The Center for International Strategic Studies hosted a Roundtable/Webinar discussion on “Emerging Alliances in Asia Pacific: Impact on Strategic Stability” on Wednesday, 29 November 2023.
The discussion aimed to:
- Highlight the drivers of alliance formation in the Asia Pacific and the national interests of China and the US being the primary actors in the region.
- Analyze the stakes of regional and extra-regional powers, the current state of stability, and the potential implications of new alliances in the region and strategic stability.
- Study the interests of third parties in the region, how they view and contribute to the alliance systems, and whether the alliance systems contribute to their national security or erode it.
