Swiss Ministry of Defence official, Mr. Adrian Lobsiger, and Swiss Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Bernhard Furger visited CISS on Wednesday April 25, 2018. Executive Director CISS, Ambassador Ali Sarwar Naqvi, welcomed the delegation. Ambassador Naqvi briefed the delegation about CISS and presented a brief summary of CISS activities.
The Swiss officials were keen about Pakistan’s relations with China and Russia. CISS team discussed Pakistan’s relations with both countries, in the past decade and contemporary period. The Swiss Defence official asked about commonalities of interest between Pakistani and Chinese on CPEC. Ambassador Naqvi said that CPEC is a developmental project which can revolutionize Pakistan’s industrial base, leading to strengthen economy. Dr. Naeem Salik discussed China’s interest in CPEC in terms of suitable and short route to Indian Ocean through Gwadar Port. CISS team answered questions of political and security issues related to CPEC route. Swiss officials discussed Swiss-Pakistan relation, saying that Switzerland is 5th largest investor in Pakistan.
Swiss delegation thanked Ambassador Naqvi for warmly welcoming them and discussing important issues of Pakistan. Ambassador Naqvi presented souvenirs to the delegation from CISS.
