The Centre for International Strategic Studies (CISS) Islamabad organized a three-day workshop aimed at familiarizing young students with contemporary strategic issues. The program combined expert-led lectures with experiential learning visits to key national institutions, providing participants with a holistic understanding of Pakistan’s security and technological landscape.
Day 1 featured in-depth sessions at CISS Islamabad.
- Ambassador Ali Sarwar Naqvi, Executive Director CISS, spoke on the International Security Order.
- Major General (Retd) Syed Shahab Shahid, Director General, Arms Control and Disarmament Affairs (ACDA), Strategic Plans Division, discussed the Imperatives of Pakistan’s Nuclear Program.
- Dr. Bilal Zubair, Director Research CISS, addressed Challenges to Pakistan’s National Security.
The day fostered thought-provoking discussions, group interactions, and active engagement from participants.
Day 2 focused on experiential learning through visits to strategic and technological institutions. Students visited SUPARCO, CASS, and NASTP, where they were briefed on Pakistan’s advancements in space and aerospace technologies, gaining firsthand exposure to the country’s scientific progress and strategic applications.
Day 3 began with a visit to PINSTECH, where participants explored Pakistan’s civilian nuclear research capabilities. Later, General (Retd) Mazhar Jamil, Advisor NCA, delivered a keynote address on the National Space Programme 2047, highlighting global insecurity in the context of eroding multilateralism, multipolarity, and unilateral power politics.
The workshop concluded with a formal closing ceremony at CISS, marking the end of an enriching and intellectually stimulating three-day program.
