Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) is a comprehensive document comprising 24 articles, 03 annexures and a preamble. The Convention prohibits production, acquisition, stockpiling and use and retention of chemical weapons. In addition, Convention prohibits supply of chemical weapon to state and non-state actors. Pakistan signed the Convention in 1993. As a signatory Pakistan is bound to implement the provisions of the CWC in letter and spirit. “Article VII of the Convention – National Implementation Measures”– binds states to co-operate with other states, and the Organization, which is responsible for implementation of the Convention.
