CISS Research Officer Syed Ali Abbas participated in the 6th Maritime Security Workshop (MARSEW-6), which was inaugurated by Rear Admiral Javed Iqbal at the Pakistan Navy War College in Lahore, to bolster maritime security and foster a collaborative effort among various national stakeholders. This workshop, under the theme ‘Secure Seas, Prosperous Pakistan,’ serves as an essential platform for senior officers from the Pakistan Navy, sister services, and civil officers from different ministries and departments, along with civil society members, to come together and deliberate on the maritime security environment and its broader implications on the regional and global maritime scenarios. Aiming to amalgamate national efforts towards enhancing maritime security and promoting the blue economy, the workshop featured an interactive session at the Naval Headquarters. Participants also had the privilege of visiting key maritime locations, including the national Institute of maritime Affairs, Karachi Shipyard, experiencing a day at sea aboard Pakistan Navy Type-054 frigate PNS Alamghir, exploring the strategic Sir Creek area, the Karachi Port Trust, the burgeoning port city of Gwadar, and the Jinnah Naval Base at Ormara. These visits were designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the operational capabilities, strategic importance, and challenges Pakistan faces in safeguarding its maritime borders and leveraging maritime resources for economic prosperity
